Regulatory Mechanism- white blood cells can't get in
Stage 1: Proliferation
Mitosis- replicates DNA and divides in two
Spermatogonia= full anout of chromosomes
Stage 2: Meiosis
Replicates and divides-
Spermatocytes= each has one strand of chromosomes
Stage 3: Differentiation
development of the head and tail
Every sperm and egg has different DNA that is why mating doesn't produce the exact same product every time
Spermiation is the release of the sperm cells into the lumen and they get released tail first
Sperm Abnormalities:
- Primary
- genetic in nature and permanent
- Secondary
- caused by fever/infection/trauma
- Head: craters, tapered, ruffled
- Tail: coiled, folded, double midpiece, detached head
Reproductive Behavior:
Precopulatory Behavior
- Search for sexual partner
- Courtship
- Sexual arousal
- Erection
- Penile protrusion
- Mounting
- Intromission
- Ejactulation
- Dismount
- Refractory period
- Memory
- Smell (olfactory)
- Hearing/sound (audible)
- Sight/vision (this might be more important to a bull than smell)
- Touch/tactile
